Topic: I am going to try and apply for a job at Walgreens.

Hopefully in their photo department where I was informed that they train you. I also took a class in very basic photography so I hope I retained some of the basic knowledge about working in a dark room. I really do miss that class so perhaps a job working in one would satisfy me. So it couldn't hurt to at least have some prior experience before going in even if they do train you there.

Does anyone still process film? Dark room?

Drug stores like Walgreens still have photo departments. Unless they switched completely to digital, I don't know if they got rid of their dark rooms yet. Dark rooms are rooms that film is developed in. Some photographers still shoot using film either due to liking the way the picture comes out artistically or even because they find zen in the process.

They don't have dark rooms anymore, they use a machine that does all the work of developing.

I have been around for more than a few years. Made a darkroom out of a closet which sucks because I never considered need for ventilation. Wanted to try color but never got around to it.
But yea machines. They have been doing the developing for decades. Dark rooms probably do exist for art only photos. With digital now surpassing film in future film will be like buggy whips. Buggy whips are still necessary for those weird religions like Mennonite and Amish.

Quick web look
> Kodachrome film production ceased in 2009, and K-14 processing is no longer available as of December 30, 2010

Any place that offers one hour on the spot processing HAS to use machines. A quick look at complaints about one hour services does appear the need to have on hand people trained so different options are avail for options for CD's of the prints etc. That might even pay a little more than minimum wage?
